Biography
Tom Alvey has over 35 years of successful executive-level leadership experience. He is currently an Executive Coach and Management Consultant. His last corporate role was Head of the Retail Industry Vertical at CompuCom Systems reporting directly to the CEO. Prior to that he held Vice President/Executive-level positions at NCR and AT&T. He has deep strategy, sales, and general manager experience in the IT Industry with P&L responsibilities of over $300 million. Tom has strong competencies across the Retail, Travel, and Financial Industries.
At CompuCom Tom’s role was Senior Vice President of the Retail Solutions Group. He had responsibilities for sales and revenue growth along with the strategy of CompuCom’s business in the Retail Industry. He managed all Sales and Account Management along with the strategy for solutions developed. As a VP/GM at NCR, Tom had responsibility for the Western U.S. Service Delivery and Service Sales. Tom owned global responsibility for clients based in his area with some of the world’s largest customers. He held various other executive positions at NCR and AT&T throughout his career in the areas of sales, marketing, and services operational roles.
Tom has expertise in coaching sales and services operations, along with strategy, leadership development, goal setting/results achievement, succession planning and career planning/transition. He was an early adopter of executive coaching. He has provided coaching to executives and leaders since 2010. Since 2002, he’s utilized a coach and seen the benefits coaching will bring to the individual firsthand. Tom has an open and trustworthy style that allows leaders to “think outside the box” to find the best solutions. He provides candid and direct feedback to help them to reach their goals.
Tom completed the Advanced Management Program at Duke University’s Fuquay School of Business. In addition, he has completed or obtained professional certifications with the following: Six Sigma Green Belt and Certified Executive Belt; ITILv3 Foundation Certification; Project Management from George Washington University; Core (Coaching) Essentials from CoachU; and Finance and Accounting from the Wharton School of Business.
Married for 39 years, Tom has 5 children, 4 grandchildren, and resides in Dallas, Texas. He’s an avid runner, bicyclist, and outdoor enthusiast.
